Slack

Connect your organization's Slack workspace and Colabio posts what happens here to the channels you choose: daily updates as they are filed, completed tasks, requests waiting for a reviewer, and alerts. Each event has its own channel and its own member scope, and nothing posts until you turn it on.

Setting it up

  1. Step 1

    Open Integrations

In the dashboard, under Communication, open Integrations. Only organization managers see it; it needs the Starter plan or above.

  2. Step 2

    Connect Slack

Press Connect on the Slack card. Slack asks you to pick the workspace and allow Colabio to post messages, see channel names and join public channels. Nothing is posted yet.

  3. Step 3

    Choose a channel per event

Each event has a switch, a channel and a member scope. Colabio joins a public channel on its own the first time it posts there. For a private channel, invite @Colabio to it in Slack first, or the channel is not listed.

  4. Step 4

    Send a test message

Pick a channel and press Send test. If Colabio cannot post there, the answer says why in plain words, most often that the bot has not been invited.

What posts

One row per event on the Integrations page. The default is what a fresh connection starts with; every event still needs a channel before anything posts.

Daily update filed

Default: On

When a member submits their daily update

Who filed it and the first lines of what they wrote, with a link to the Daily updates page. An update filed as leave says so and gives the reason.

Task completed

Default: On

When a task moves to Completed

Who completed it, the task and its project, with a link to Tasks.

Manual time requested

Default: On

When a member asks for manual time

Who asked, how much time, on which task, and their note. Links to Time Approvals, where a reviewer decides.

Correction requested

Default: On

When a member asks to change, move or delete tracked time

Who asked, what change, which entry, and their reason. Links to the Corrections section of Time Approvals.

Smart alert raised

Default: Off

When an alert rule opens an event

The rule's name and the same line the alert inbox shows, for the member or project it is about. Needs Smart Alerts on your plan.

End-of-day summary

Default: Not yet available

Coming soon

Hours tracked today per member, who filed an update, and open approvals, once a day in the organization's working timezone.

Timer started and Timer stopped

Default: Off

When a member starts or stops tracking

Who, which task and project, and for a stop how long they tracked. A stop waits five quiet minutes, so a laptop that lost its network for a moment posts nothing. These read as monitoring in a public channel: they are off until you turn them on, and you choose whose starts and stops post.

What is never posted

A Slack message only ever contains what the member can see on their own dashboard, captured at the moment it happened.

  • Screenshots, screen recordings, activity levels, and app or URL history.
  • AI prompts, pay rates and invoice amounts.
  • Calendar event titles.
  • The full text of a daily update: only its first lines, cut at about 400 characters.

Colabio reads nothing from Slack beyond the list of channels it may post to. Every connection, disconnection and routing change is written to your organization's audit log, and the privacy policy describes the integration in full.

Disconnecting

Press Disconnect on the Integrations page. Colabio revokes its token, forgets the channels you chose and stops posting at once; messages already in Slack stay there. Connecting again later starts from the defaults. If someone removes the Colabio app from the workspace in Slack instead, the next post fails and the page shows a Reconnect button.

Questions

Who can connect Slack?
Organization managers, on the Starter plan or above. Anyone in the workspace who can install apps can approve the install on Slack's side; some workspaces route that to a Slack admin for approval first.
Can I post different events to different channels?
Yes. Each event has its own channel. Approvals often go to a managers' channel and daily updates to the team's channel.
Can I limit an event to some members?
Yes. Each event has a member scope: Everyone, or the members you tick. Timer events are the ones to scope; most teams leave the rest on Everyone.
Why did nothing arrive?
Check the Recent failures panel on the Integrations page: it says what Slack answered. The usual causes are no channel chosen for that event, the bot not invited to a private channel, or an archived channel. A dead connection shows a Reconnect button at the top.
What does Colabio read from Slack?
Only the list of channels it may post to, so you can pick one. It does not read messages, members or files, and it never posts anywhere but the channels you chose.
What is never posted?
Screenshots, recordings, activity levels, app and URL history, AI prompts, pay rates, calendar titles and the full text of a daily update. A message only ever contains what the member can see on their own dashboard.
How do I disconnect?
Press Disconnect on the Integrations page. Colabio revokes its token, forgets the channels you chose and stops posting at once. Messages already in Slack stay there. You can also remove the Colabio app from the workspace in Slack's settings; the next post then fails and the page asks you to reconnect or disconnect.
